HB2009 Excursions
Several optional excursions have been arranged for your pleasure and convenience. All are suitable for conference attendees and their guests. Excursions are at an additional cost, they are not included in your registration fee and advanced booking is required. Excursions are subject to cancellation at any time should there not be enough interest. Should this happen you will be given the opportunity to switch to another activity (additional cost may apply) or a full refund will be issued. Should you need to cancel your reservation please do so by August 14, 2009 for a full refund. No refunds will be given after this date. Click here for the official excursions website.
Museum Walking Tour
10am-4:30pm, Tuesday or Wednesday, $40 per person (includes admission to 4 museums and escort)
Enjoy four of the finest museums offered in Central New York. You will begin your walking tour at the Erie Canal Museum have time to shop and dine at one of our unique eateries in Armory Square and complete your tour at the Everson Museum! The 5 ½ hour tour will provide a glimpse into the history of Syracuse as well as our appreciation of the fine arts and sciences!

11:00 - 11:15am: Walk to Armory Square
11:15 - 12:15pm: Tour the Museum of Science and Technology (MOST)
12:15 - 1:15pm: Lunch and shopping on own in Armory Square

1:20 - 2:20pm: Tour Landmark Theatre

Erie Canal Museum- 318 Erie Blvd. East
The museum is housed in the National Register 1850 Syracuse Weighlock Building - the only remaining canal boat weigh station in America! Explore the history of the Erie Canal - the "ditch" that forever changed the nation. Climb aboard a replica canal boat, stroll the Locktender's Garden, and discover Syracuse history and what makes the "Salt City" unique.
Museum of Science and Technology- 500 South Franklin Street - Where kids of all ages explore the world of science through hands-on exhibits, planetarium shows and lively science demonstrations. Home to the Bristol Omnitheater, the only IMAX Dome theater in Upstate New York!
Landmark Theatre- 362 South Salina Street - The Landmark Theatre is a grand 3,000-seat concert/movie palace located in downtown Syracuse. Built in 1928, patrons were directed by uniformed ushers through the lobbies, absorbing the wealth of colors and materials – marble, terrazzo, tapestries, chandeliers, and exotic furnishings. They were ushered into Thomas Lamb’s exotic world through the main lobby, which boasted a chandelier designed by Louis Tiffany for Cornelius Vanderbilt’s mansion, and the grandest of the theatre’s several huge murals. Permanently listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Landmark Theatre is the last remaining Depression-era movie palace in Onondaga County.
Everson Museum of Art- 401 Harrison Street - The first museum designed by I.M. Pei, when the museum opened its present quarters in 1968, it was dubbed “a work of art for works of art.” The Everson offers collections of American Art, including painting and sculpture, in addition to the nation's foremost collection of American Ceramic Art, and loaned exhibits. Children's Interactive Gallery allows children to enjoy their creative side!

Executive Chef Bill Gideon
Executive Chef Bill Gideon has worked for and with some of today’s most talented chefs. His cuisine is derived from his experiences around the world and is steeped in classic tradition. Just as today’s society is a melting pot of different ethnicities, so are the samplings at The 1060 Restaurant. Whether having handmade “light as a feather” gnocchi, seared Ahi tuna sushi or Georges Bank East Coast crab cakes, all regions of the world are explored and turned out with authentic flavors and presentation. With Chef Gideon and his team at the helm, you are sure to feel at home with comfort food stylings. Chef Gideon has studied under internationally renowned chefs, and has cooked for multiple presidents, starlets, and most notably the late chef Julia Child. Chef comes to The Genesee Grande Hotel via The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. “It’s all about cooking good food, everybody loves to eat.”
Interactive Cooking Class
The Genesee Grande Hotels popular Executive Chef Bill Gideon is sharing his knowledge and culinary insight with a class with a stellar menu that can be created efficiently from two to twenty people, this class is sure to be a hit. Attendees will come away with a tasting of each dish, an interesting wine pairings, as well as all recipes. Each class will be one and one half to two hours with a minimum of two recipes prepared per class.
Cayuga Lake Wine Tour
