Edward A. Bogucz, Ph.D.
Executive DirectorSyracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems
Greetings and welcome to the Ninth International Healthy Buildings Conference and Exhibition held in Syracuse, NY, USA, from Sept. 13 to 17, 2009.
Syracuse University and the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems are pleased and honored to host this international conference and exhibition. We especially welcome members and leaders of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ), which established the Healthy Buildings conferences in 1988. Further, we warmly welcome delegates from around the world to share in the exciting exchange of knowledge and ideas that will take place at HB2009. We look forward to showcasing research, demonstration, and innovation projects conducted by esteemed colleagues from every corner of the globe.
We also hope our guests enjoy their visits to Central Upstate New York. Our region has a long, proud history of technological innovation, especially in the fields of indoor environmental quality and engineering. While there is much important work to do at HB2009, please take time to enjoy the history, leisure, dining, natural beauty, and recreation that our region has to offer.
It is a tremendous honor to help further ISIAQ’s goal of creating buildings that are healthy, energy effi cient, and sustainable. Our aim is to offer you a conference that is conducive to the vital work of interdisciplinary collaboration so crucial to ISIAQ’s mission—and also to provide opportunities where you will enjoy catching up with old friends and colleagues, as well as making new ones.
Welcome to Syracuse!
Edward A. Bogucz, Ph.D.
